What a hive of activity! The bees are certainly busy in this large handmade macramé wall hanging.
As such an essential part of the ecosystem I thought the bees deserved their own wall hanging to tell the story of their daily lives.
Centre top hangs the honeycomb with the queen bee below ready to lay her eggs. Either side of the honeycomb dance a zig zag of bees to let others know the exact location of the flowers with pollen.
Surrounding all the hustle and bustle inside the nest is the outer casing of the hive itself.
A daisy chain design leads down to a large peachy coloured Gerbera which has a dark wooden bead in its centre. To finish I have added busy little bees which can be seen flitting around.
This macrame wall hanging measures 56 cm across and has a drop of 76cm from the bottom of the dowel. The dowel itself is 60cm long with a 24mm diameter and the hanging string when hung from a single fixing drops 16cm.
I have used raw recycled cotton string to make this wall display. The flower in the centre has been made from sandstone coloured bamboo string which gives it a beautiful shine.
