I created this linocut for York Open Studios from a photograph I took of one of my favourite views of York Minster. This is the view of the Chapter House section of the Minster, as seen from the cobbled street of Oggleforth, just outside the Treasurer’s House.
This print is created using two plates, and is print several times in order to print with different colours. I decided to print a green and a red version to give the impression of different times if year. A little hint of gold lifts the whole piece and gives in that extra special quality.

Full description
York Minster limited edition linocut print. A view of the Chapter House from just outside the Treasurer’s House.
This print is 8 x 10 inches with a printed area of 6 x 8 inches.
Each design is created using hand carved plate of traditional lino, carved with specialist tools and printed with a hand wound press, using Hawthorn Printmakers oil based inks onto 300 gsm Snowdon printmakers paper. Every print is unique and completely individual due to its handmade nature. It's always so satisfying peeling back to paper to reveal to final print.
Sold unframed and unmounted.
