Garnet, black onyx and rose Quartz are all stones that are associated with January and Capricorn.
Garnet, the traditional January birthstone, is one of the oldest known gemstones.
The ancient Egyptians buried their dead with necklaces and ornaments of garnet.
The common belief that garnets had the power to shield their wearer from harm made them popular with both royalty and warriors.
In the middle ages it was believed that a dragons eyes glowed red because they were made of garnet.
Garnet is also considered the stone for a 2nd anniversary.
