I love the ethereal quality of feathers, and their symbolic beauty.
I also love this form of concertina book with cutout windows and an image inserted which creates great shadows.
The watercolour was painted first, becoming the book, then each feather was painted and outlined before being cut out individually and sewn in place.
The book has a box to reside in (originally for a piece of jewellery I think) it is painted and paper collaged to match the book.
This concertina book was created for this year's 100 day project on Instagram.

Feathers are a symbolic and beautiful image.
Here's a cute concertina book full of them, one feather per page for 7 pages, residing in it's own painted and collaged box.
This sweet concertina book is created from a sheet of watercolour paper painted with abstract splashes of colour.
Each page features one feather machine sewn inside a cutout window.
Each feather is watercolour painted and outlined in fine-liner.
The front page feather features the word 'love' hand-written.
This is a one-of-a-kind mixed media study featuring watercolour painting, machine sewing, lettering and a paper collaged box.
It was created to produce beautiful shadows when displayed in direct line of sunshine.
Where will you place it?
This original artwork measures 5.5 x 7cm and extends to approximately 24cm when displayed.
The box size is 6 x 8 x 2.5 cm in size.
It will be posted securely wrapped with card and recycled packaging for protection. If you can reuse the packaging please do :)
