There are recurring themes, motifs and colours in the Simple Earth Collection, but every piece is unique in form and decoration. I like to work with the minimum of tools so that each piece reflects the nature of the material and the nature of me as the maker, and also so that 'hand-made' can be literally what it says!

Full description
A striking vase for flowers or foliage, or an eyecatching piece of abstract art… I created this black stoneware experimental piece with both ideas in mind. The shape is a loosely cylindrical form, decorated with abstract panels of mingled yellow and lemon, with grey stripes stretching around the form. The different shades of yellow give a dappled effect and contrast with the matt black finish of the natural black clay. The decoration is grouped in two main panels, one on either side of the piece, as you can see in the images. The interior of the piece is glazed in a shiny finish showing lovely and unusual russet tones with blue highlights. Underneath the base you’ll find my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight. The piece stands at approx. 18 cms high, and 8cms diameter at the widest part of the base. A really individual piece of ceramic art that will reflect your own distinctive taste in interior design for your home.
