My background is in Graphic Design and although I'm now retired I still enjoy the creative process. A lot of my work features birds and flowers and I particularly love combining different materials and patterns to create colourful, one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces.

This quirky, free standing mixed media artwork would add a lovely warm pop of colour to your home.
For a modern take on a ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’, I’ve brought together an eclectic mix of interesting items and carefully displayed them in a wooden compartment box.
The box has been given a coat of black acrylic paint which really makes the colours pop. For the backgrounds I’ve used layers of acrylic paint, some stamped with woodblocks or decorated with fragments of paper from old books. There are polymer clay tiles which I’ve debossed with Indian woodblocks to give an interesting textured surface.
The collection of items include African bone beads, a Yak bone bead in the shape of a fish from Nepal, Picture Jasper beads, Czech glass and wooden beads, a vintage button, a wooden bird from India which I've repainted to resemble a Guineafowl, a metal filigree elephant's head, Cowrie shells and dried Wallichi seed pods.
The overall size is approx. 24cm wide x 33cm high and 4.5cm deep.
The box is free-standing.
