I am really enjoying patchwork as one means of working as creatuvely as possible through my horde of vintage fabric, and I hope creating beautiful and useful items in the process.

Fabric scraps, most of them vintage, and many of them upcyled, have been patchworked together, and enhanced by embroidery to create an attractive front panel for this practical spectacles case.
The front of this glasses case has been made from a patchwork panel, hand-sticthed by the 'english paper piecing' method. The design has been enhanced by simple embroidery worked over the seams, in coordinating threads.
The case is lined in a cream fleece fabric cut from un-used, left-over scraps. The reverse of the cover is a blue patterned fabric, reclaimed from the valance of a sofa cover, circa 1984 ish. The top of the case is bound in a green and white striped fabric - a reclaimed remnant. The case closes with a button hole stitch loop over a green vintage button (from my mother's button tin - and I suspect from my school uniform.
