This beautiful Lord of The Rings Chess set was originally designed back in the 1980's by the talented English sculptor Denis Fairweather.
This is a stunning example of an old chess set design that unfortunately over the years seems to have been forgotten about.
This is type of LOTR themed art sits outside of the recent Peter Jackson movies and harks back to a time when artists impressions of JRR Tolkiens great work were as diverse and original as the story itself.
This collection of 18 individually handmade figurines gives the chess pieces a wonderful and intriguing presence and is an absolute joy to look at and play with. (I literally sit and stare at it when it's in front of me)
This chess set would make a wonderful addition to any Lord of the rings fans (LOTR) collection and features Lady Galandriel, Gandalf, Frodo, Sauron, Shelob, Gollum, Bilbo and many more Middle Earth characters beautiful portrayed in pieces that have definite stature. The king is 16.5 cm tall with a 4 cm base and the pawns are both 11 cm tall with a 4cm base and 10 cm tall with a 4 cm base (aprox)
This is a real treat for any Hobbit, LOTR, ( Lord of the Rings ) or Tolkien fans out there.
The chess set has been cold cast in gypsum and hand painted in an Antique age effected finish to enhance and compliment the beautiful chess set design.
