After years of not really wearing or making earrings because they were covered by my shoulder length hair, staring at my new long post-lockdown tied back hair on endless video call meetings and chats means I've become obsessed with the extravagant, colourful and characterful earrings I can now wear, and these and my other earrings in the collection are the result.
These earrings were inspired by some larger pieces I've been working on using bead embroidery and other hand embroidery techniques. In recreating the patterns and feel of those very textural works into this different, flatter form I've played with using contrasting finishes as well as colours - so you'll see I've sometimes used a matt opaque bead, or a metallic, or a silver lined or even a transparent bead to change the way the light plays on or through the beaded fringe. They are designed not to be a mirrored pair - instead the colours flow carefully across from one earring to the other so they are balanced in wear.

A pair of beautiful, unqiue long beadwoven fringe earrings in my own abstract design.
These earrings are hand stitched using brick stitch and fringing beadweaving techniques to form a joyous eye-catching fringe below a triangular top. Each bead is individually picked up using a fine needle and specialist thread and either linked together and woven into a fabric like sheet to form the triangular top section (brick stitch) or picked up in long rows to make the long fringe. It's slow and painstaking work but the finished result is full of movement and life.
Each pair is unique - I deliberately never repeat the same colour combinations so you can be certain that no-one else will be wearing them (even I won't have a pair exactly the same).
These earrings hang from a fine 925 sterling silver ear wire - I've selected a kidney shaped one for extra security here as they are quite lively in wear! They are 2.3 cm (0.9") wide and 9.8cm (3.9") long (measured from the top of the ear-wire).
They will arrive packaged in an hand made envelope, ready for you to give as a gift or enjoy yourself.
