Item details

This cutlery painting features a knife, fork, soup spoon and desert spoon. It has a very delicate colour pallet with the cutlery in a white ground surrounded by a watery buff border.The border features 2 sections on a Victorian stencil and there is a broken silver dot and line in silver metallic paint. The cutlery design is king's pattern. I painting this in my Norfolk studio, it is mounted, simply framed in lime-washed wood and ready for you to hang. The overall measurements are 42cm x 36cm and the internal image is 27cm x 21cm. I call this one 'Silver Cutlery'. It might make a unique silver wedding present.

I have enjoyed painting this subject, maybe because it is so different from my normal art-work. However there is such delicacy and detail to be found and I had fun with the border, I got to use images from my Victorian stencil book again. I have revisited the cutlery painting theme again. During lockdown I painted cutlery on canvas in a bolder way which was interesting.
