Hello and welcome to HalfMoon designs.
Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you enjoy my original paintings and have fun browsing the collections, floral, lingerie and fashion. My artwork is also printed on a selection of mugs and magnetic notepads.
Please don't hesitate to contact me should you need anything and if you find a favourite image, I would love you to click on it.
Here are some things just listed by other crafters and sellers on Folksy.
I have always painted but it became more than a hobby when I started working for the 'greetings card and gallery' market. I have also deigned for a ceramic company who used a series of my art-work to produce ceramic wall plaques, which was novel.
I have shown my work in galleries, had some solo exhibitions and have exhibited at various craft markets including Alexandra Palace and Spitalfields.
I think the most stressful place I have ever exhibited was at the N E C in Birmingham where the gallery company I was designing for at the time, wanted their artist to be on show and painting, but they also wanted me to engage with passing clients at the same time, very difficult to do both.
Each painting starts with a drawing. I paint 'Floral subjects' because I find them absolutely fascinating and I have built up quite a portfolio of sketch books over the years so that I can dip into them should I need a 'poppy' in the middle of winter, for example.
I love they way a particular flower will determine the style and medium to use. It could be a delicate style watercolour or a more expressionist type of painting, maybe on canvas. The possibilities are endless.
Gifting my 'Floral Paintings' or adding one to your own wall is the perfect way to bring flowers into your home.
However, I also adore painting lingerie subjects and I have launched my Folksy shop with my 'Lingerie Collection' which includes corsets and bra and knicker sets, both framed and unframed. I have a background in fashion and textiles so this is my way of combining that with watercolour painting. I love the design process and usually create in pairs. Many pieces are hand-stitched with bead-work, net, lace and ribbon to create a unique effect.
I have a treasure chest of pretty stuff to sew on at my Norfolk studio, but it takes ages to do! The watercolour paper is so thick that I have to make a small hole with a normal sized needle first so that the much finer beading needle can be pushed through for each tiny bead. It takes absolutely ages to do but I think the result is worth it.
I wanted to create really feminine, glamorous artwork that would be a fun and flirty look for your bedroom walls and a unique gift for Anniversaries, Birthdays and Valentine's.
In addition, I have had some of my designs printed on mugs and magnetic note pads. These can be viewed in my other shop when I can have time to add them and they could make great little gifts.
I've got loads more to list when I get a chance. Creating this Folksy shop is all very new to me and honestly, I couldn't have done it without my husband doing all the computer stuff. However if you have enjoyed visiting, I would be delighted if you would 'like' me and let me have some feedback on my Facebook page if you have time, or add me to your favourites so you can see all the new items as they are added. I would really appreciate it. Kind regards and thanks, Sara.
