Hello and welcome to HalfMoon designs.

I have painted scabious before from my sketch book. Usually in a natural setting but I needed a flower to compliment the arrangement of 'tulips in glass vase' painting and these worked well. It's nice to change the subjects environment and I enjoyed filling the the glass vase vase with watery stems. I also like the atmospheric effect you get with Prussian blue and sepia mixed together with a bit of burnt sienna.

Full description

White and pink scabious in a glass vase featuring an asymmetric array with brown seed head and centres. They vase sits on a wooden surface of brown tones and the background has muted shades of sepia and blue which continues around the sides. The stems are grey/green and watery in the vase. I painted this in my Norfolk studio and it is ready for you to hang. I designed this piece to compliment the white tulips in glass vase should you need a balanced pair or gift for a glass (3rd) wedding anniversary I call this one Scabious in Glass Vase II'.
