Every painting starts with a sketch and I return to this elegant flower which I have drawn whilst sitting in my mum's garden. The added bonus of doing that is I get cups of tea brought to me. I have enjoyed creating a pair to another horizontal canvas I painted, separating the specimens across the board so that I can really pay attention to each one individually. Lilies have such natural sculpture and waxy unique waxy look. I liked designing the central group composition with the leaf and bud.

Full description
An original watercolour painting featuring 5 calla lilies, leaf and a furled bud separately spaced across a horizontal canvas. I have created the painting in my Norfolk studio and have used gouache for a thick texture on the background and the lily heads. Additional watercolour paint for detail, shadow and the pale yellow stamens. The background is a soft cream with hints of all the colours used in the painting and it continues around the edge. The measurements are 50cm x 70cm x 4cm and is ready for you to hang horizontally. I hope the cool, minimal pallet offers many opportunities to enhance your space and it could also be a wedding gift option. I have called this one Lilies in the Mist. II
