Full description
Cyanotype print, sun print, blue & white hearts on white textured card
Handmade Bookmark
Aprox 6 x 2 inches
With white cotton cord
Blank on the back for messages or notes
Each of the 3 I have listed are different and completely unique
I shall pick one for you at random as they are all equally as beautiful
The Science process
To make these blue & white hearts I used the cyanotype or sun printing process
First I painted some diluted chemicals on to paper and let them dry in a darkened room
I then sprinkled some dried lavender seeds and chamomile heads on to the paper
To keep them in place I used a clip frame and put the whole thing in sun light so the chemicals could work.
Next day I carefully rinsed the chemicals off the card and this is when the paper changes colour to this beautiful blue. Where the seeds had been the card remains white and created this wonderful natural pattern
Once the card was completely dry I then used heart shaped die cutters in my machine to cut out various sizes of hearts
I then fixed them on to some beautifully textured white card which I had pre-cut
I punched a hole and added 6” of 1mm cotton cord
Now you know the process you can understand how much work went into making each bookmark and why I charge how much I do
