I love to incorporate text into my prints and much like its companion piece, it's the writing that is the star here. The words are interspersed with little sprigs of restful lavender, perfect for a night time rhyme!

Sketches made and a final design decided, this image was transferred onto lino which was then hand cut and burnished onto a lovely creamy Japanese Shiramine Select paper (measuring approx. 21.5cm x 26.5cm) with the printed image itself measuring approx. 15cm x 20cm.

Each of these 6 prints (the first printed from a variable edition of 50) comprises a base layer of pale purple touches for the lavender sprigs, over which is printed the main image in a dark purple, with both colours in oil based inks. Each print is numbered, titled, signed and dated.

Having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will occur; such is the beauty of a unique, hand crafted piece.

Your print will be posted to you in a bio-degradable cello with a back board, ready to present as is or to frame with the mount and surround of your choosing.

This print would make a lovely gift either for an adult or for display in a child's bedroom.

My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.

Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.

This print was made in the memory of my lovely Grandpa, making a companion piece to 'Grandma's Wise Words'.

This little bedtime rhyme was something Grandpa used to say to me and my sisters when we were small and my mum remembers it from her childhood too! Though my own children didn’t get to meet my grandpa, this rhyme was often part of their bedtime routines too…
