Full description
Tall hexagonal lidded jar in dark green and celadon glazes.
Thrown by hand on the pottery wheel the jar started as a cylinder. Once partially dried to leather hard the clay was scored and the form manipulated to created the hexagonal shape. After bisque firing the jar was glazed and fired once more to 1260C.
The inside of the jar and lid have been glazed with a celadon bluey green glaze. The outside has been glazed in a dark green. The upper third of the jar and top of the lid were dipped in a third glaze which reacts to create a mottled colouration which adds depth to the glossy surface finish.
The jar can be used for storage of bits and bobs or for decoration; without the lid it could be used for fresh or dried flowers. The lid does not seal tightly so couldn't be used for storing biscuits or other food stuffs that require an air tight seal.
Dishwasher proof if required.
Size: 18cm tall, 11cm wide.
