A strongly textured stoneware lidded jar with colour variations reflecting the melting of the glaze down through the stamped markings. The glaze is transparent tan where thin and blue/cream where it has pooled inside, in the medallion and around the foot outside. This hand-built jar is perfect for jewelry, spices, condiments, herbs or your small precious items. It was made with a UK stoneware and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. The jar measures approximately 10cm tall and 8cm wide. The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9868.
I love making lidded jars because returning customers tell me that they often get used regularly. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that fits into their daily routine. It has a well-fitting lid to add to the enjoyment of its use. The jar pays homage to my long-term interest in the oriental ceramics and the use of a medallion/seal.
