This tealight may be small but it is probably the most challenging thing that I make - taking a flat slab of clay and shaping into this form requires some delicate persuasion. The pattern is loosely inspired by a Paisley design and reminds me of the beautiful patterned blouses that my gran used to wear.

Full description
Ceramic Tealight in white stoneware clay with Storm blue underglaze and glaze.
Tealight candle included.
Just the right size for a standard tealight candle. The shape wraps around the candle and when lit, the candle casts lovely highlights and shadows on the patterned surface. The high shine of the glaze inside the tealight contrasts with the matt surface of the velvet underglaze outside.
Approximate dimensions: length 9.5 cm, width 7.5 cm, height 6 cm.
Once the piece is dry, it is fired first to 1000 degrees C. Separate layers of underglaze and glaze are then painted on before it is fired for the second time, to 1200 degrees C, making it strong and durable. All underglazes and glazes are lead-free and non-toxic.
Made with care and attention to detail. Because everything is made and glazed by hand, each item is unique. Each tealight is printed with a section of a larger pattern so the specific part of the design featured on each piece will vary.
