Turn a jar into a vase with this set of two Flower Frogs in contrasting glazes.
Taking inspiration from history, the Flower Frog was simply a device to help arrange flowers, going right back to the mid 19th century, popular in the twenties and thirties and currently used in the art of Japanese flower arranging called Kenzan.
As with my Landscape Posy Vases, they are perfect for a few flowers from the garden, leaves or seed heads depending on the season.
Apart from glazes, these Flower Frogs have extra interest and surface texture from shards of glass bottles added just before firing.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
This set of two Flower Frogs start off life as a circle cut from a hand rolled sheet of clay.
After leaving to dry off slightly, various sizes of holes can be safely cut using a special hole cutter or Potters knife, without distorting the shape.
After a tidy up of all edges, they are stacked and left to dry before being placed into a first firing.
Glazes are then poured, splashed and sponged onto the biscuit fired surface before going back into the kiln for a final firing.
Diameter, approx 7.5 cm
Thickness, approx 5/6 mm
