Wheel thrown handmade vase decorated with geometric lines in ray patterns. The clay body used is a lava fleck which contains small particles of iron. These melt during the glaze firing (1260C) and react with the glaze and create small speckles.
The inside and outer top rim and base have been glazed with a transparent glaze. The outside has been glazed in a dark green. The geometric pattern lines were created with thin masking tape prior to glazing; once this was removed it leaves the raw clay surface unglazed. This becomes toasted by the glaze at the edges giving a nice orangey hue to the fired clay.
Tall enough to take a small posy of short stem flowers or can be used as a bud vase.
Size: 15cm tall, 10cm wide at widest point, 5cm wide at top rim.
