Late summer early evening we are blessed to hear the sound of 'honk honk' followed by a flock of geese flying overhead. I love how they work in unity to encourage each another on. Did you know that by flying in a 'V' shape, they cover 75 - 85% more distance than a single goose flying on it's own. The leader creates a slipstream which helps the others behind pass through as there is less resistance and in turn the ones behind create an upward draft with their wings which help to push the others forward. The thing I love the most is when the lead one gets tired, they rotate positions to allow the leader to rest, so everyone gets a turn! Best of all, if a goose is injured or is too tired it is never left on it's own. Others in the group will stay behind to give encouragement and protect until she is ready to rejoin the group!
