The sky glowed with a purplish hue that night. The stars appeared slowly at first, like rain drops hitting the surface of a pond. Then they arrived in torrents, as the heavens darkened and the last trickle of daylight disappeared. This night was different. The breeze raced energetically through the trees and the stream bubbled and spluttered as if twice it's volume. Every blade of grass hummed with anticipation. Without sound or warning, the horizon shattered into a thousand shards of electric pink strobes, each like jewels, streaking through the star studded dark. The fragments joined and refracted playfully, soon taking the form of enormous celestial beasts. Dragons. Two majestic souls honoured us with their presence, swooping and dancing like ribbons set free in a gale. The performance lasted until the church bells sounded midnight, and then as quickly as they had appeared, the dragon duo evaporated into the night.
