Full description
This lovely bird measures 9cm high, 12.5cm long and 6cm wide. To make it I first modelled a shape then made a mould from it. I then cast it with white earthenware clay and dry it and then fire it to 1060 degrees in an electric kiln. I then paint four layers of glaze on to the breast and fire it again in a gas kiln, then smoke it in a lidded container containing sawdust, any unglazed part is turned black from the smoke, it is then washed, dried and polished with bees wax.
