A pretty pair of birds in pale green cotton fabric made into buttons! These cute earrings have been made using William Morris & Co inspired cotton fabric from Moda in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum.
It features a repeating pattern of rabbits, birds and foliage in cream, on a sage green background of the print called Brother Rabbit.
I've selected lovely sections of the cotton fabric featuring two birds - reminding me of a pair of song thrushes - standing in swirling trees and foliage - facing each other, surrounded by swirling foliage.
The buttons have a 15mm diameter and they have been set within natural wooden cabochons (that I have added an ultra matte varnish for protections) and measure approximately 2cm. The total drop is just over 3cm. I have attached screw eye loops and surgical steel earring hooks - they are perfect for those with sensitive skin.
This lovely unique pair of earrings will come will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box - perfect for gifting to that nature lover, William Morris fan or Arts and Crafts lover (or as a treat for yourself!).
As it’s made of cotton, this is also ideal as a small token for a 2nd wedding anniversary gift! I also have a matching pendant available.
This William Morris pattern is also called Brer Rabbit and was first produced by Morris & Co. in 1882. The pattern was inspired and named after a character in Uncle Remus, His Song and Sayings by JC Harris (1881), which William Morris used to read to his daughters. The rabbits and birds that I’ve selected for these pendants were drawn by Morris’ close friend and colleague – Phillip Webb.
These earrings coordinate well with my pendant featuring this bird pattern, also available in my shop: https://folksy.com/items/7314835-Pair-of-Birds-or-Rabbits-William-Morris-fabric-covered-button-pendants
