Full description
This bird is hand made and measures, approx 5.5cm high and 6.8cm long. It is made from white earthenware clay and when leather hard it is carved, then dried and fired in an electric kiln. After firing several coats of glaze are painted on and with a sponge it is wiped back off the surface leaving the glaze in carved dents. It is then raku fired in a gas kiln and then smoked in a bucket of sawdust which highlights the crazing.
