These dangly sterling silver earrings feature drops of monochromatic fordite combined with strawberry quartz. rounds. The fordite has vertical stripes in mostly black, white and silver with just a little bit of cherry red which is highlighted by the strawberry quartz, some of the stripes are metallic and glint in the light. Strawberry quartz is clear quartz which has naturally occurring inclusions of iron oxide within it, they look like little red spangles in these particular stones, I darkened the backs of the settings to make them appear less pink and better match the red tone in the fordite. The earrings are finished with sterling silver safety hooks (also known as kidney wires)
Not come across fordite before? It's the name given to a cured build up of paint that accumulated in the spray booths at car factories. I cut and polish this material myself and you can see the rough in one of the photos (not included). I try and match up my fordite to a specific manufacturer and year where possible but due to the limited colours in this sample I've not managed, the parcel of rough that this was part of included material which I have matched to GM's Orion Assembly so I believe this to be fordite from one of the Detroit area factories. Want something else or something more colour? Drop me a message as I have quite a stash so should be able to help.
Measure approx 57mm by 15mm and come gift boxed.
