These retro earrings feature marquise shaped drops of colourful fordite combined with zesty orange carnelian, there is a post and scroll fitting behind the carnelian. The fordite features curving lines in vibrant orange and yellow sweeping across the drops. The fordite used in these eye catching earrings came from Ford's Dagenham plant in the 70's so these would be a great gift for any one who loves a bit of retro or has an association with Dagenham.
Not come across fordite before and wondering what its got to do with Dagenham? Fordite is the name given to the build up of cured paint that happens in spray booths at car plants. Based on the colours in this material (you can see the rough in one of the photos - its not included) I believe it has come from a transit van line at Ford's Dagenham plant in the 1970s - the yellow in it is remarkably like BT van yellow. Paint technology has improved over the years and now very little fordite is formed and getting vintage material like this is difficult but I have quite a stash so if you love fordite but want something else then get in touch.
Measure approx 42mm by 15mm (1 3/4 in by just over 1/2 in) and come gift boxed.
