One of the delights of enamelling is the range of techniques available for working the medium. I enjoy working out what technique may be most appropriate to a particular project and then working out how best to apply it. In the case of the penguin, where there is no real option but to use black and white enamel, I was delighted to discover that I could make the white belly with a stencil technique, using the end of my tweezers (a key part of my enamelling toolbox). Simple but very effective.

This penguin is 27mm tall, 23mm wide. It has a 20mm brooch bar soldered to the copper shape. The pin fastens with a rolling catch.
When enamelling a penguin,I first build up several coats of white enamel on the copper shape then add a coat of black, covering the belly with a stencil to keep it white. So far the best stencil I have found for this purpose is the enad of a pair of tweezers. I then draw in other feaures using a cocktail stick as a stylus.
Your brooch will be sent boxed, by Royal Mail first class large letter, signed for.
