Who can resist a beautiful comical puffin.
I love this little stained glass bird but don't make this or either of my black and white penguin designs very often as they need black glass and black glass is different from all the other colours. I can't see or trace through it, not even using my lightbox. So instead of tracing my pattern onto the glass which makes for accurate cutting, I have to make a set of stencils to draw round. So things made of black glass take 3 times as long to cut and fit as any other colour.
On the other hand once they're made the black glass does look so effective.

Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A design I made originally for a commission and liked so much it is now in my catalogue.
I made the pattern by tracing a puffin in my British Bird guide so it should be a good likeness.
It is a lovely puffin made with super shiny black glass and a front of streaky white glass. It has a comical multi-coloured beak on which I've painted a yellow stripe.
I just love this super little bird and I've decided to call him Charlie.
I've given this one a new hairstyle. Mini curls. Very cute feathers.
It will make a lovely present for anyone who likes puffins as they will definitely not have one of these.
The suncatcher hangs from a little chain which is securely attached to the top of the penguin's head. It is 13cm high and 8.5cm wide.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
Please note that this is made of glass which is delicate and is an ornament not a toy.
