A small linocut print on archival paper of a botanical illustration.
This print is from an edition of 5 and is part of an ongoing series of botanical illustrations of plants used in textile dyeing. It depicts an Indigo plant used in making blue dyes and would make a lovely companion piece to the other prints in the series.
The design is hand drawn onto lino before being carved to create a unique linocut block. Each block is then printed by hand burnishing with archival inks onto fine paper.
The nature of lino as a medium means that the final results are unique to each finished print. Differences in the amount of ink, the pressure of the hand-burnishing technique I use and even the grain of the paper can change each work subtly. This leaves a unique connection between the final work and the artist.
Each print is 13.5cm x 18cm. The print is sent unframed but covered in protective wrapping and backed by bend proof card.
