Welcome! This is a very new shop and I'll be adding lots of other items soon. Look out for more hip bags, hip pouches, bags, hats, aprons, coin pouches, tote bags and shoulder bags. All made from recycled, salvaged or found materials.

When I rescued a large, wet, muddy, half rotten tent from its previous owner I quickly discovered that the undamaged parts of the fabric had acquired a lovely sort of patina. There's quite a lot of it ( big tent!) so I'm always thinking of projects for it. The colour and markings appeal to me and others who like things to look used and loved.

In my other life I'm a Countryside Ranger, leading foraging walks in spring and autumn. The basket I use is fine for actually leading the walks - I need to take prepared recipes as tasters. However a small belt-mounted pouch is perfect for the responsible sort of foraging I'm hoping people will be encouraged to adopt.

Full description

This little forager's pouch is designed to be worn on a belt - so you'll have it handy when you're out and about. It's just the thing for collecting seeds, nuts and other wild food - or for collecting sea glass and similar beach treasures.

The cotton pocket can be detached from the leather holster for ease of washing.

When closed the pouch measures roughly 10cm x 8cm. When opened out the pouch pocket is 28cm x 26cm. (It's good practice to collect only small amounts of wild food!)

The forager's pouch is made almost entirely from recycled, salvaged materials. The thick cotton canvas pocket came from the sides of a mess tent that had been damaged by a storm on a Cornish cliff. The leather is from an old, battered holdall that had seen better days.

The pouch is sewn with heavy duty thread using french seams ( no fraying on the inside!). There's a drawstring around the top, threaded through 4 brass eyelets. The leather holster is riveted together and closes with an antique brass effect press stud.
