CoronaVirus Update. My Folksy shop iis staying open. Please note that although I always aim to send orders as quickly as possible there may be delays in the postal service. To make things easier for you, I can also gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient – just leave me a note when you checkout.
Everything listed here that says silver is sterling silver, I do not use silver plate at all. There will be elements of sterling silver in every design, some will be completely so, others may have combinations of copper, brass, bronze, dichroic glass, enamel, pewter and/or semi-precious stones as well.
Two 1955 "silver" sixpences (6d) with a paw cut-out of each with a fine-bladed jewellery saw. Just over 1.5cms across. By this time, these sixpences were made from nickel. Finished with sterling silver ear wires.
Despatched in a presentation box via the Royal Mail Signed For service in the UK.
Recycled and crafted in Lancashire.
FYI - these 1955 "silver" sixpences were no longer silver by this time. Up to 1920, they were made of 92.5% silver; 1920-1946, they were 50% silver; from 1947 until the end of circulation they were made up of 75% copper & 25% nickel. Unfortunately the very few that I have that are really silver are in too bad a condition to consider using. These that I have used are not mint but they are in a very good condition.
