The flying avocet has been hand carved from a 10mm sheet of lime. I have designed it to give as much feeling of depth as possible with raised wing edges. It has a glass eye and has been painted with artists acrylics. It has been mounted on a beautifully grained panel of ash which looks like the ripples on mud or sand. Both have been finished with wax and the panel is hung on a simple piece of twine. It is 21.5cm by 37.5cm approx. and 8mm thick.
