I have taken the last few months off from woodturning to concentrate on my botanical water colour work a few examples of which you can view on my Instagram account. However, I have picked up the chisels again and will be adding new items and old favourites. The latest additions are two attractive sycamore drinks trays but more items to come.
I wanted a deep lidded storage jar and had this piece of spalted beech that seem to lend itself to the design I had in mind. I like to combine different timbers and chose iron. I endeavoured to make the grain between the base and lid seamless.

Full description
Whilst it was turned as a decorative item this lidded pot could also be used for storage. The main body is spalted beech and the top of the lid was turned in iroko. The finish is dulled melamine and waxed.
Approx. dimensions: H166mm x D95mm.
