Thank you for looking...
Otters do live along the rivers locally, but I haven't been lucky enough to see one in the wild, only occasional tracks on the river bank.
We had moved to a farm called "Waundwrgi" and were told the Welsh means "Waun" - marshy valley, and "Dwrgi" - literally, water-dog, or otter. And apparently there were otters along our little stretch of river, but too secretive for us too spot!
Otters regularly feature in my work.

Hand embroidered study of an otter on the riverbank.
This picture was stitched by hand onto scraps of fabric using a combination of stitches of various lengths and colours. I used a silky material to represent the slippery mud of the bank and some silver thread for the whiskers. The otter's coat looks thick and chunky, and the expression is calm and serene although the claws look quite fierce!
The stitched piece is nearly 5 x 5cms and the whole item is about 13.5 x 13.5cms and is ready to hang. It has been framed behind glass in a grey mount with a black wooden frame.
It was photographed in natural light without the glass but I'm sure you know that screens and monitors all vary.
It is a lovely gift idea for a nature watcher...
