We all have our favourite mugs. I even have a favourite mug for coffee, another for tea and another for peppermint tea. People can be quite protective over their mugs too.
I wanted to make a range of mugs for everyone. All of us are different, all of us are special - so are my mugs. Each is made individually with care, attention and detail.

This gorgeous blue mug has the words 'Hygge' stamped into raised clay on the side of the mug.
'Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is a Danish word that is a feeling or mood that comes taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful, beautiful or special. Whether it’s making coffee a verb by creating a ritual of making it then lingering over a cup to a cosy evening in with friends to the simple act of lighting a candle with every meal. Hygge is being aware of a good moment whether it’s simple or special.
Some refer to hygge as an “art of creating intimacy” (either with yourself, friends and your home). While there’s no one English word to describe hygge, several can be used interchangeably to describe the idea of hygge such as cosiness, charm, happiness, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, kinship, and simpleness.'
My mugs are all slightly different, each is made from scratch, from that wet lump of clay on my potters wheel.
I threw this mug on the potter's wheel using a white stoneware clay. I then turned the base and added the handle and decoration before bisque firing the mug. I glazed it using a lovely rich glaze and refired to 1240C stoneware making it strong and durable.
Approximately
Height: 9.5 cm
Width across the rim: 9 cm
My mugs may be all different but they look gorgeous as a family.
I sign my pieces with the initials REJM. My parents gave me a long name and then called me by my last.
