A ceramic hand built bottle with coloured slip and sgraffito marks dipped in dry turquoise glaze. This design is called sand-break from drawings of the fences used to build up sand dunes.
Each bottle is slab built and fired twice, the second firing being to 1250 C, this is known as stoneware.
Size approx. 15cm high 12cm wide
This is the larger bottle in the photograph, the smaller one is also available on Folksy.
The slab bottles I make are created to resemble figures and look striking in a group. The glazes and glaze finishes then bring in my fascination with landscape and marks to create simple, but striking forms.
