This unisex drop shaped pendant features rare Dagenham fordite which is bezel set in sterling silver. The pendant is reversible with very different patterns on the front and back, one side has a flame like pattern in red, orange, sparkly silver and black, the other side is more stripy in blue, red, sparkly gold and cream. There is a simple ring for hanging the pendant on a chain or cord (if you want me to supply one of these then drop me a message first and we can discuss lengths as this pendnat could easily be worn by either a man or a woman).
So what's fordite? It is layer upon layer of paint that built up in the old spray booths at car factories (in this case Ford's plant in Dagenham probably in the late 70's based on the colours). The car panels were rested on rails for painting and over spray paint would land on these rails and get baked in between cars in the curing ovens leading to a hard layered build up which would be sporadically removed. Some of this material left the factories (most went to waste) and this became fordite. The spray technique that produced this material was phased out in the 80's (in the UK, it was later in the US) and fordite is becoming increasingly hard to source especially the UK material. This would make an ideal gift for anyone who loves their old Capri or Escort.
Measures 1 1/4 in (inc bail) by 3/8 in across and comes gift boxed.
