Inspired by my own houseplants and garden, although the plant pots here are much more fun than my own!
Three pot plants sit in a row, depicted in hand embroidery with crewel wool, onto 100% wool felt. The pots are stitched in bright colours and are finished metallic thread, which gives a lovely subtle texture. Different embroidery stitches show the textures of each houseplant. Crewel wool has a soft fuzzy texture and a soft sheen, with a raised surface to the stitches which I find impossible not to stroke!
The embroidery is framed in a sturdy metal frame which I finish by crocheting over the frame using cotton yarn, and adding hanging loop so it is ready to display on the wall
I used Appleton Wool for this embroidery decoration, a material also used by William Morris! It is dyed and spun in England.
The hoop is 6” / 15cm approx wide. The hanging loop is 2” / 5cm long.
Each of my embroidery pieces are unique, due to the hand stitching and the natural textures of the wool. I love designing and creating each piece.
The hoop art wall decoration is securely wrapped in tissue before posting in a sturdy envelope.
