Hello and welcome to Shirley Rainbow.
If you would like me to send an item as a gift directly to the recipient please let me know, I’m always happy to do this!
This piece is part of a collection of designs that have been drawn digitally, then printed onto fabric. I then used the printed fabric to embroider on, using the fluid horizontal lines as a frame for the lines of stitching. Trailing vines and climbing plants were my inspiration.
The stitching is completed in DMC stranded embroidery thread, using only two or three strand to give a delicate appearance. I have used french knots, feather stitch, lazy daisy, whipped and normal running stitches in fresh, vibrant shades of green, mint, orange and yellow.
The embroidery is framed in a wooded embroidery hoop which has been painted with green acrylic paint. The hoop measures 13.5cm / 5” wide. It can be displayed by hanging on the wall, or propped on a shelf. The printed fabric is 100% linen. The back of the hoop is covered with card.
The embroidery wall decoration will be posted to you carefully wrapped in tissue paper and tucked into a sturdy card envelope. Postage is free to UK addresses on items over £15.
I was inspired by fresh greens and new plants growing in the garden.
