Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.

I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.

If you have any questions, then feel free to reach out and get in touch. Thank you for looking (and if you should decide to purchase , a huge thank you!)

My inspiration in making these masks comes from a visit to the Island of Murano, in Venice. There is a Venetian tradition of wearing masks for the Carnival. Venetian masks are often made of papier mache, but occasionally of glass - Venice, and Murano in particular being world famous for its tradition of working with hot glass.
I have tried to put my own twist on these masks, by producing a small range of elven style masks.
Why elven masks you may ask?
Well - for one, it is far better than calling it a plague mask (which was the original purpose of the masks. Also I have been recently reading fantasy stories in which elves and dragons are prominent - this may have influenced me too.
The next challenge is a dragon mask (though I do make dragon suncatchers.)

Full description

This unique fused glass elven mask wall hanging has been made in a luscious spring green and orange, with dark, aventurine green eyes.

The colours have been built up with layers of fine glass powder, sprinkled over the base glass layer, the sparkly green eyes added, and then fused flat. Once cooled, the mask has had holes drilled through on either side to allow for hanging attachments once finished, and has been decorated further by the application of hand painted enamel, in red and green to add further details.

The enamel is left to dry for a while, and then the mask placed back into the kiln to fire the enamel to the glass and to allow the mask to slump to shape.

When cooled, pure copper attachments are made and long ribbons added to allow the mask to hang.

It will look amazing as a wall decoration, and will make a great talking point in whatever room you choose to hang it.
