Item details
The Owl is a bird that has dug deep into the psyche of many a culture with their hypnotic eyes and swivelling heads. They have been imbued with much symbolism being venerated and feared, loved and hated, persecuted and protected to varying degrees throughout history.
The Barn Owl was particularly maligned in medieval Britain as a harbinger of doom, but with their distinctive deep dark eyes and heart shaped faces I find them to have a gentler look than their brethren - certainly a beautiful bird to render in paint.
