I love making traditional Dorset buttons and wanted to produce something respecting the heritage of the craft but given a contemporary edge and immensely wearable too.

This brooch was created to showcase a collection of five different traditional styles of Dorset button.
The base is a large (45mm diameter) Singleton button made using pure silk in a rich chocolate brown shade, which is adorned with a 18mm beaded Cross Wheel button worked in shades of brown with tiny glass beads, a golden brown coloured 15mm Yarell Cross Wheel button, a 15mm Dorset Knob in chocolate brown and three small (10mm) simple Bird's Eye buttons in toning shades of brown cotton.
The brooch is hand finished on the back and fastens with a metal brooch pin.
It is supplied in a gauze bag together with a slip giving information about the different types of Dorset button involved in its construction.
