The Gokstad viking ship is a beautiful 9th-century boat found in a burial mound at Gokstad near Sandar in Norway. It is now on dispaly at the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. This design is based on how I imagine this beautifuly distinctive viking ship could have looked on the ocean waves.
In a single colour, Cyan.
This handcut linoprint is based on my own drawing, hand printed onto good quality paper (220g white) using water based ink.
The print is 25cm (10 inches) by 20cm (8 inches) to fit in a standard frame. The frame is not included.
Each print comes in a cellophane sleeve with extra card to protect it. Your order will be sent in a card-backed envelop labelled "DO NOT BEND".
Coming back from a holiday in Iceland this summer, I came across a photo of this beaufiful viking ship in Oslo museum. I just imagined how this magnificient ship would have looked on the ocean in its hey day. I included a Scandi style sun in the design, the result is, I think, something from the books of Tolkien.
