Item details

A woven wrap in pure merino lambswool in shades of blue and green. The yarn is spun and dyed in Yorkshire, the fabric designed by myself at home in Carmarthenshire, Wales, woven at Melin Teifi, Wales and the wrap is made at home in Carmarthenshire. The fabric is twill weave and the weight is 280gm2.

The wrap is 70cm wide. Each tail is 50cm long.

My inspiration for this fabric is the sea and the sky at Poppit sands in Pembrokeshire on a bright sunny day.

The Welsh traditionally carried their babies in woollen nursing shawls (siol fagu). Siol fagu are still made at Melin Teifi where my fabric is woven.

I have carried all my four children as babies and I have tried many different kinds of baby carriers, woven wraps are my favourite. They are so comfortable to wear because baby is held so close, the weight is spread over a large area which means it is easier to carry baby for long periods of time without becoming tired. Wraps are so versatile, with one wrap it is possible to carry baby on your back or front, and they can be used by people large and small.

Carrying your baby keeps them happy and content and keeps your hands free to do other things.
