I love to solder 3D objects and I love birds so I came up with the idea of creating bird boxes.
I have hand cut glass pieces to create this miniature bird box. It measures 2x1x1 inches. The glass sections have been soldered using lead free solder.
The bird I chose for this piece is a Hummingbird. From the Attenborough programmes I've seen I'm aware that Hummingbirds don't live in bird boxes but I hope you will allow me some artistic licence.
I have decorated some panels of the box with shabby chic paper with hand written text on it. The nest is made up of twigs and embellishments like diamantes, skeleton leaves, lace and even a glittered purple egg.
At the top I have soldered chain so it can be easily hung up.
This would make an ideal keepsake gift for your home or a loved one.
I shall post it in a plastic box and oodles of bubble wrap.
