Full description
This wooden yarn bowl, made from locally grown Holly Oak, is perfect for all yarn types. The grain of this wood is beautiful with the oak’s medullary rays seen clearly running throughout. The bowl was turned whilst the wood was green and then allowed to dry very slowly. It has taken on a very characterful slightly symmetrical oval shape that can be seen in the photos. This does not in anyway interfere with the function of the yarn bowl.
After turning, the bowl has been sanded beautifully smooth to allow the yarn to glide unhindered around the inside of the bowl. To finish, the bowl has been given multiple treatments of finishing oil before being buffed to a soft sheen.
