Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to see a pigeon for the first time. I think their beauty is overlooked because they are so common, so wanted to paint them looking a little bit grand!
Influences for these little paintings include cameo brooches, Victorian miniatures and a lifelong love of children's illustrators such as Beatrix Potter and Kit Williams. I hope they appeal to children and adults alike, and would make lovely additions to a child's bedroom or a unique wedding gift when given as a pair.

Full description
Prince Pigeon is painted wearing a golden crown and velvet cloak. He is also pictured with Princess Pigeon as a maybe pair as an idea for a wedding or new home gift - the homing pigeon who always returns to his home. Another name for this pigeon is the Rock Dove - perhaps symbolic of a solid love!
Prince Pigeon is painted on to a scalloped wooden oval. The oval measures 8.9 cm x 10.9 cm and the wood is 3 mm thick. Detail has been added with pencil and fine pen.
The painting has been varnished, and has a hook on the back so that it's ready for hanging.
