This graceful cup was hand thrown on the wheel and fired to around 1270 degrees centigrade. The glaze is a lovely, pale grey celadon (with an interesting flecked and crackle effect) and the bare clay of the base has been flashed by salt vapours from clam shells placed around the piece during the firing.
The cup measures approx. 3.75 inches tall and is around 3.5 inches wide at the belly. It will hold well over half a pint of liquid. Mark Smalley's personal symbol has been impressed to the underside.
The glaze has crawled slightly under the handle and a thick glaze drip has reduced the gap .. I can only fit one finger through the handle, still fine to use, but someone with small hands may find it more comfortable to hold.
The postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 .
