A smiling girl with long, Pippi Longstocking style ginger plaits and rosy cheeks squints into the sun as she prepares to take a drip in the sea.

I made this signed screen print as a tribute to my Gran, Betty, who was a keep sea swimmer in her youth and a life long proud redhead (even after her hair had faded to white). The image is taken from a graphic short story I made about the story of her plaits. Gran died earlier this year, I hope she's found some great waves wherever she is now. I will make a £5 donation to the Alzheimers Society charity for every print sold.

- Hand printed in my studio-cum-garage.

I made this print as a tribute to my Gran who loved to swim and had so many happy memories of swimming in the sea. She was a proud redhead and, as a girl, wore her hair in two beautiful long plaits. Her sister was bookish and weak and the doctor advised that her hair be cut as it was sapping her strength. The girls' father (my great grandad) always treated them the same to all four plaits were cut of at the nape. My gran kept her's her whole life and they were buried with her last month.
